Info - CV Yulia Krupenia - a Russian artist - today is living and working in Amsterdam and was born in 1965 in a small town near Moscow. The calm and solemn nature of the subarctic regions of Northern Russia, where she spent many years of her childhood, and her education in classical Russian art of painting, influenced strongly and helped to shape the talent of the artist. From 1980 to 1985 Krupenia studied at the Abramtsevo Art Academy near Zagorsk,which is the heart of Orthodox Russia. The influence of icon painting has been present in her works ever since. Continuously exploring different cultures and traditions, Krupenia's works reveal an unique synthesis of traditional Russian Art and Magic Realism. The richness of her colours and the fascinating contrasts leave ample room for interpretation and amagination. The flow of life, its different stages and the roles of men and women in it are the central themes of artist's work. Today Krupenia has regular international exhibitions in The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
