The Brain Wave Lab (BWL) PC Installation guide with the STEEM package CONTENTS: 1) Unzip 2) Enditall 3) Prepare for using the BWL program 3) BWL Interface and Headphones 4) Run 5) Next step 6) Install the HTML manual 1) Unzip (easiest with the freeware WinZip program in Classical mode) a) Insert the BWL program disk b) Open it c) Double click the file "brainlab.zip" Your unzip program should start up. Extract the files to C:\ *** Nothing else after C:\ *** ! Make sure that you have the option "Use Folder names" and "Overwrite Existing files" activated. All files now should be in C:\brainlab (not any other) d) Open C:\brainlab with your file explorer and check whether the folder "harddisk.c" exist. If not: your unzip program did not take the sub directory information over. Delete the folder c:\brainlab. Try again and check your unzip program for the option "Keep Sub Directories" or "Use Folder Names". e) Create a shortcut on your desktop for the "steem.exe" program. 2) Enditall a) Unzip the file "enditall.zip", which is located in C:\brainlab", to your TEMP folder on your system. Either located in "c:\" or in "C:\windows". If you do not find your TEMP folder: create one or unzip to any directory that you use for temporary files. b) Navigate to your TEMP directory and double click the "install.exe. program to install the freeware program "enditall" Install it in any directory that you are used to install software ( C:\Program Files\enditall\ ). C) Create a shortcut on your desktop for the "enditall.exe" program. 3) Prepare for using the BWL program You need to have DOS installed on your system. If not, then install it from your system CD-rom. a) Close all open applications / programs b) Start the program "enditall" by double clicking the "enditall" shortcut on your desktop. Click the button "End It All" and wait a couple of seconds and follow instruction prompts if they appear. Now all window tasks will be eliminated except for windows itself. This is important to prevent interrupt interference with the BWL program c) Unplug any device that is connected to the parallel (printer) port. d) Start the "steem" program by double clicking the "steem" shortcut on your desktop. The BWL program should appear with a demo file "default.all" already loaded. and ready for a session. e) Connect your BWL interface to the parallel port and plug in your adapter. f) Connect your headphones to the sound card speaker/headphones output. 4) Run a) Put the goggles on top of your head b) Put on the headphones c) Click the right mouse key or hit on your keyboard d) Move the goggles in front of your eyes e) Close your eyes. When the demo session is over, then the sound and light pulsing are over and the BWL program automatically returns to its menu screen. 5) Next step In the folder "C:\brainlab\www\bwl" you find several "readme.txt" files. You should read the following files to get familiar with the BWL program running under windows. Please try to state the nature of the problem as precise as possible and mention as much as possible about your computer system (Sound card type, processor type and speed, windows version). You may write in the English, Dutch or German language. 6) Unzip/Install the HTML manual (easiest with the freeware WinZip program). a) Insert the BWL manual disk b) Open it c) Doubble click the file "bwlmanual.zip" Your unzip program should start up. Extract the files to your "C:\" *** Nothing else after C:\ *** All manual files now should be in "C:\brainlab\www" D) To open the manual double click the file "index.html" which is located in "C:\brainlab\www\bwl\" Your Internet explorer will start up and you have access to the home page. click the item "Read introduction - load manual enter page" to have access to the manual. e) Add it to you Bookmarks (favourites) to easily have access the next time you like to read the manual.
